Contemporary Interior Decorating

Contemporary Interior Decorating is Sophisticated Design without being too Formal. Contemporary Style Interiors are often confused with Modern Interior Design Ideas . Modern Style Design tends to have more "Square" or "Geometric" lines while Contemporary Design has "Softer" and more "Fluid" lines. Although both Modern and Contemporary Interiors are "Clean" and "Simple". Modern Design tends to be a bit more "Hip and Trendy" while Contemporary Design tends to be more "Sleek and Sophisticated" Some of the major features that side mark Contemporary Interiors are . . .

  • Simple and Uncomplicated Furniture Layout that includes "Open Areas"

  • Large Seating Arrangements that often include a Sectional Sofa

  • Furniture that is Sleek with some Soft Curves and Styling

  • Solid Colors for Seating Pieces often in Smooth Grained Leather

  • Abstract Pattern Fabrics used Sparingly for Pillows and Side Seating

  • End Tables and Accent Pieces that often have Glass and Metal Detailing

  • Colors Tend to be Bold or Very Simple - Primary Colors are often used as Accents

  • Lighting tends to be Brighter and is usually Recessed or Surface Mounted

  • Artwork and Accents should be Sparse, Bold in Color and Abstract in Form

As you can see there are some similarities between Modern Design and Contemporary Design The Major Difference has to do with Form. Modern Design tend to have more Geometric Forms while Contemporary Design tend to have more Abstract Forms. A Contemporary Interior can make a Dramatic Design Statement but can still be warm and inviting by creating a welcoming layout and choosing warm colors and textures.
