Creating Apartment Interior Designs that are attractive and affordable can be a challenge if you are trying to personalize a rented space. I am often asked if there are ways to effectively make a rented apartment feel like "Home". The answer quite simply...is a resounding YES!!!

One of the easiest ways to dress up an Apartment is to add Color, Texture and Items that make you feel at Home. Very often Apartment buildings will not allow you paint or require that you repaint the original color when you decide to leave. If this is the case...no problem.

Think about hanging inexpensive, colorful draperies that can be hung from floor to ceiling on a predominant wall in your room. For instance, behind your bed. Other large scale wall hangings can also make a statement without ever having to touch a can of paint. This is great way to add Color and Style to your Apartment.

Think about adding colorful accent pieces to bring Texture and depth to an apartment. It could be pillows, throws, lamps, accessories, etc. An area rug is another wonderful way to introduce Texture to an Apartment. Make sure to invest in a properly sized area rug, for example don't put a 3' x 5' area rug in 12' x 15' room. A rule of thumb is to have no more than 3'-0" of bare floor around the perimeter of the area rug.

Adding visual Interest to an Apartment is another great way make your rental property feel like Home. Think of things that make you happy or feel comfortable. For instance say you love the ocean. Find a beautiful print or painting that has an ocean scene. Of if you love the outdoors think about adding groupings of different sized potted plants (good quality silk plants are fine).

Don't be afraid to personalize your space. Decide what style most suits your taste and use elements that appeal to all of your senses.
